Meet Cookie Coz Grimes
My passion in writing children's books is to share my values and morals through the true animal characters I've been blessed with in my life. My stories are about the tools we all need to get though Life's challenges and I write stories the way I see the characters in real life. My books are filled with lessons, and virtues, not only for children and parents, but for grandparents to give—and read—with their grandchildren.
The books are focused on positive, caring personalities and traits that children can discover in a compelling way. Worthwhile books in history have always been educational and interesting . . . to hold a child's imagination and wonder through books will always be a valuable goal.

Official Release Date: December 2nd, 2008!
Jake the Cow Horse relates a touching story of my palomino quarter horse, a former championship roping horse in his youth whose personality changes dramatically when he is finally unconditionally loved by humans.
Jake spent the last decade of his life on our ranch, and is still missed by everyone here.
Cody is a young ranch girl who becomes Jake's loving companion. One of the early reviews of the book describes it well: "Jake the Cow Horse is a wonderful reminder to all of us of the transformative power of love. Cookie Grimes has captured the innocent faith of a child that kindness and love are what makes friendship come alive no matter what size, shape or species we are. I finished this story with the renewed hope that the world will be a better place because of people like Cody and her family."

A New Year's Family is a Florida story; inspired by a true story. It happened when I lived in Panama City. It's a tale about two ducks named Sarah and Christopher, who fall in love. Sarah and the animals and birds and insects around the pond all learn the important lesson of physical appearance having little to do with internal character.
"I'll never judge a person by what he looks like on the outside, because if you look inside the person, you might find a heart of gold," said Lucy the bluebird in the book.
