Jake the Cow Horse

“Jake the Cow Horse” is a love story that captures the true connection between a horse and a young girl. Cookie Grimes writes a touching story that should be read not only by all animal lovers, but also by those yet to discover how knowing a horse can change you’re life forever.

A truly heartwarming story of a young cowgirl with such love for an old cow horse, that they were able to cross the barriers of human and animal, and learn to communicate with each other. As a horsewoman myself, I loved it.

Jake the Cow Horse is a wonderful reminder to all of us of the transformative power of love. Cookie Grimes has captured the innocent faith of a child that kindness and love are what makes friendship come alive no matter what size, shape or species we are. I finished this story with renewed hope that the world will be a better place because of people like Cody and her family.

A New Year's Family

Sarah and Christopher duck are a lot like all of us, hoping to find love and acceptance---eager to become part of a loving family. They teach us all that there is much we can do without; that all we really need resides within. Thanks Cookie, for reminding us that love is about what we feel, rather than what we see.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this children's book. Once I began reading the book and looking at the illustrations, I was taken back to similar childhood memories. My first thought, as I read A New Year's Family, was what a wonderful children's play this would make, and the meaningful message the book sends.
Happy Reading!

From one who was first my esteemed teacher, and then my caring friend, it is no surprise that Cookie has the ability to surpass the ordinary by her devoted weaving of illustration and word into a story with moral fortitude. I am blessed once again to hold your wisdom in my hands, and so thrilled that you embark on your journey to share it with so many others, children and adults.

I am so glad. We really did get a lot more out of this book than any I have read to my granddaughter Hannah. I would like to add that you don't speak down to the children, you force them to think.

Well, I learned that this was a true story and I like true stories. This story was about 2 ducks wanting a family. It is a cool book because in my first grade class we raised baby ducks. They were so cute and this book made me think of them. I loved the colorful drawings. I learned that ducks are sensitive and have feelings, too. I also learned it is more important what’s inside than the outside and I learned lots of new words.

The story A New Years Family reminds me of my childhood. All the animals in the story remind me of people that I know in general. My favorite animal in the story is Lucy because she takes the map over to Luke and helps him find his way. There are all kinds of farm animals mentioned in this story. My favorite part is when the little ducks hatched and they all went to the pond and went swimming.
Congratulations on your book it was really good

I like this story because I can compare my life to it. I like the part when they got married. But my favorite part was when they meet. The part that I can compare myself to is when the bird finds the duck because I had to find a boy for my friend. The good part was when all the animals help find a mate for Sarah.
